TOKIDOKI !!! omg ! WOW!

What a night I had! I got invited to the Tokidoki party that launched the Karl Lagerfeld doll! It was so exciting for me...anything about Karl Lagarfeld is exciting for me! I love love LOVE Tokidoki because it is so artsy and I love the Japanese touch to it all! Then to top it off: A Karl Lagerfeld doll????? OMG... What could be more amazing. I mean, I am not really into dolls - except the Carolle baby dolls I collected as a little girl. But a Karl Lagerfeld doll is totally different! Karl is the fabulous man with the white ponytail who designs for Chanel! Yep. Chanel.... So when I got home from school and finished my homework, I had just a few minutes before tennis practice (which I had to go to before Tokidoki)..... and guess what? Well, my sewing machine was staring at me and I got inspired! I made this outfit to wear especially to Tokidoki! What do you think? I love it! So did everyone at the Tokidoki event! The night just got better and better! The owner of Tokidoki took me around and introduced me to everyone there! I met Simone, the Italiano artist of Tokidoki, so cool!!!!!!!!!! Then guess who? Nicky Hilton. She was super nice, she told me she "loved" my outfit! I have to say the best part of the night was "shopping" with Rudy and getting the very special and collectible special edition Karl Lagerfeld doll! I know! Can you believe it! It is now sitting on a very special shelf in my sewing room! I think I will forever be inspired! Thanks to everyone at Tokidoki for making me a very happy 10 year old fashion designer! xoxoxo ciao for now, Cecilia

IMAGINE! DIANE VON FURSTENBURG HELPING THIS CHARITY AND ME, CECILIA CASSINI, AT THE SAME TIME.
I AM SO GLAD THAT THIS NICE LADY "MICAH" LOVED THE DRESS I DESIGNED AND DONATED! SHE WON IT!

I HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY BUT I AM SO SOOOOOOOOOOOO TIRED. I GOTTA GO TO SLEEP...........

I HAD THE BEST TIME EVER BUT BOY DO I HAVE STORIES TO TELL YOU!

mommyhype is calling me "eco fashionista extraordinaire"

November 16, 2009
Eco Fashionista Extraordinaire

This is an article Teri Levy, my tennis friend Jamie's mom, wrote. It was great to see that even my friends who I only see on the tennis court (in tennis clothes) like my stuff too! I mean we have a lot of fun playing tennis together but we don't get much time to talk fashion - if you know what I mean!

For the past year my eldest daughter Jamie has been playing tennis along side a girl who comes to the court with some serious fashion flair. Whether it is a big bright flower in the hair or some elaborate outfit, she gracefully dances across the court. Every week my daughter anticipates the outfit of the day. A week ago this ten year girl invited Jamie to her trunk show. So, last Saturday I piled my four daughters and a friend into the car and off we went. Meet Cecilia Cassini, a 10 year old Eco Fashion designer who aspires to be Coco Chanel. I was astonished by her creations and so where all the kids. At ten, she has the eye to selected interesting fabric combinations to create fashion forward pieces with some serious flair. With confidence she explained how she go started and with poise showed me her masterpieces. Yes, she calls them masterpieces because each piece is unique and one of a kind. All her creations are made from old clothes from hers, her grandmothers and moms closets. As I picked up a piece, Cecilia confidently told me a story relating to the garment, "ah, that was a Juicy Couture sweater that had a hole, so I decided to cut it up and create something". My daughters were in awe and inspired by Cecelia's ambition and courage to do what she loves: sew, save the planet by recycling old clothes and create. So, now we wait until our next meeting on the tennis courts to see her latest creation.

Just to give you a hint of what I happened to be wearing on the court on Tuesday (before I even saw this ) was a fabulous thick elastic, high wasted black full skirt with a simple black tank but of course... some fabulous magenta/sparkled leggings (from Tough Cookies, fyi) and my boring white addidas tennis shoes that I painted last year with scribbles and flowers to cheer them up! And as we all know, I never ever forget the head piece! This time a medium sized pink and black and gold ribbon bow headband... turned to the side of course!

make sure to check out http://mommyhype.com/tag/fashion because there are lots of great things to read about and to bake for the holidays ( i wanna make those pumpkin pie tarts) and of course to buy!!!!!!!
well ciao for now, xoxoxoox

daily news episode three

I woke up Saturday morning just like any other Saturday morning... well. kinda!

I was excited about my Trunk Show at Tough Cookies and I was already wondering what fabulous dress I was going to wear. I was also wondering how I could convince my mom to let me wear my hair down ( she always wants to to put it up...).........

So........... as I walked into the kitchen to say hello to everyone - since they were already up...

I noticed the Daily News on the kitchen table!!!!!!!!!!!! When I took a second glance at it, ...

LAST NIGHT ON THE NEWS

On the news ?
Well, just as I was cheering for my cousins James and Henry in their CIF Championship Waterpolo game, my mom tapped me on my shoulder and said in my ear, "We need to rush home as soon as the game is over."
I could tell there was a good enough reason by the tone of her voice that I did not even bother to beg her to stay for the pizza they usually serve after these games. Not that I like pizza - cuz I don't - but any chance to hang out with my cousins!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As we were rushing to the car, my mom said "Sharon Tay from CBS 2 / KCAL 9 news will be at our house in an hour to do a live report on you."
You can imagine my surprise. What????????????????? OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So we rushed home - good thing I was already dressed cute - so I could help my mom straighten up the house and get herself together!
I do not really know what I was feeling. It happened so fast.
Ding Dong! As I looked out the wondow there was the huge news truck in front of our house. WOW. Was this really happening? Yep. Sharon Tay said, "Hi Cecilia!" As if we had known eachother forever! She made me feel comfortable right away. She was so nice. Right away we started talking about fashion and Gossip Girl !!!!!!!!! Believe it or not, we had the best time. I showed her my sewing room, all of my current pieces, my portfolio and even the letter I wrote to Chanel when I was just 7 years old. Finally it was time to go on air! I was not nervous at all when the lights and cameras and microphones (I had to wear one) went on! I just couldn't believe it when Sharon Tay announced me as "arguably the youngest fashion designer in the country!" The whole night was like a dream! I should have been sleeping but the news truck, camera lady and Sharon Tay did not leave my house until about 11:30 pm.......... With all that excitement, how in the world could I go to sleep! Wow. What a day! I was on zzzzzzzzzz news

daily news episode one

A nice man named Tony from the Daily News called me!
Can you believe it?
Well, to be exact, he called my mom and asked if he could speak to me about my designing and sewing........
It was so cool. This man, he said he was old enough to be my grandfather, was asking me questions like:
"Where do I get my inspirations from"
"What do I plan to be when I grow up"
"How long have I been sewing"
"What do my friends think of my clothes"
"Am I related to Oleg Cassini, a famous fashion designer"
Tony said the story will be in the Daily News on Friday or Saturday!
So don't forget to look for me in the Daily News and read my answers to his questions!

A Ride of "ew"

So while having the best time in my life at the Diane Von Furstenburg fashion show, my mom said we had to leave a little bit early to "beat the crowd" outside.

Of course I did not want to leave but I definitely was not going to stay alone so... I got up and walked outside with my mom to give the Valet our ticket.

Well my mom was most definitely NOT the first one to think of this. There was already a huge line outside. But my mom asked the people at the front of the line if we could "cut them in line" because I was tired and needed to get to bed.

Of course everyone was nice and said "NO Problem."

My mom even found her keychain and handed it to one of the guys and spoke spanish to him. I guess she told him to please hurry up! It looked like we were gonna get our car super fast.

WRONG! Now all of the "EW" began to happen. Be sure to sit tight in your seats.
First, the Valet men were all sweaty.
Next, OMG they were so unorganized, I cant even tell you.
Then, I hear people complainning "Valet, where is my car?"
Then, I hear people freaking out, "My car was towed."

I saw that NOBODY has left. There are more and more people outside.
My mom starts asking the Valet "Where is my car?"
It seems like a long time since we left the fashion show.

Then , a lady named Amanda was freaking out. "You need to figure this out. I have so many celebrities standing here. And you MUST get this lady and her daighter their car. They have been standing here for over an hour."

Crazy. The cars were not coming. The Valet LOST the cars. They did not know where they were parked. Keys were GONE. Some cars were TOWED. OMG! What if my mom's car was gone?

I wanted to call my papa and have him pick us up but my mom kept telling me not to worry.
I was just wanted to go home.
Then a super nice girl named Diliney, who were had met inside, offered to drive us around the neighborhood to find our car. My mom said ok and we got in her car and drove around for awhile - looking for our car. We even went to a parking lot that the valet said our car must be parked at. It was super far away. Our car was NOT there.

We drove back to the Valet and saw police cars.

The police men offered to drive us around to find our car. I felt so SCARED but my mom said we were "as safe as can be."

The "EW" got even "EWer".

I was sooo disgusted to get into the HARD SEATS!!!

Then I was even more disgusted to hear that I was sitting in a ROBBER seat!!!

EWWWWWW!!!!!

MY mom wa sitting in the drunk seat and the policemen said they had just caught a drunk person last night who sat in that VERY SEAT.....

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok now i think i am scaring you ,well this will be a very good lesson. I have one last thing to say:
"DO NOT EVERRRRR GET INTO THE BACKSEAT OF A POLICE CAR!
NEVER EVER EVERRR!!!

EcoDiva of the week!

I am so happy that I am featured as an "EcoDiva of the Week" on

http://ecodivastv.com/Blog/wordpress/?cat=4 !

Speaking of week, I had a very crazy week - school, the holiday, and sewing of course! So sorry but that is why I have been a little outta touch!

Today is the beginning of a new and exciting week as well. I get to go to a charity fashion show featuring Diane Von Furstenburg because I donated a dress. Hopefully someone will love it and buy it for lots of money so that I can be part of helping people not get cancer. (BTW I do know who is DVF ! I have even been to her store in Paris... and I have the collector's barbie of her - not that I have barbie's but that will be another story - another time.)

Back to "EcoDiva"... You must check it out! One of the creator's is actually a lady named, Taryn. She is super cool and actually is one of my "fashion" teachers. Although she is super busy with lots of different jobs, she makes time to help me learn lots of different things about fashion design - there is so much more to it than just sewing. One of the funnest things she taught me was to cut up fashion magazines and paste pictures on posterboards to create "story" and "color" boards. I love working with Taryn because she totally "gets me" and encourages me to "repurpose" and create whatever I feel like because no matter what, it will work!

I love the name "EcoDiva"

ciao for now!

ONE THING ON MY MIND

One thing on my mind!

It was finally a bit colder today! I mean, it was kinda gloomy. Do not get me wrong! I was not sad at all about this weather. Finally I was at school not burning up! I had a good day at school but I must admit I had one thing on my mind.

Even though it is still kinda hot, I have winter on my mind. I cut up some old black sweaters and skirts and made an amazing dress! Sweaters that do not fit my brother anymore and some very ugly skirts from my mom's giveaway bag.

Polka dots and stripes rock! The crocheted flower from my grandma rocks it even more!

I have named it "La Fleur" ...

What do you think?

ciao for now, Cecilia

THE MEETING

Amazing!!!
I had a great 1st day of fifth grade and an AMAZING meeting ...
Project Runway people... first of all, their office so "fetch" !!!
we sat on couches instead of those "long and straight" conference tables...
Chips Ahoy cookies and bottles of cold water!
The meeting was REALLY good ! They made me feel so comfortable - I felt like I was just hanging out with people who already "get me" .
I think they liked my clothes and my idea of "repurposing" and "being green" !
I hope something will happen with me and them because I really loved the vibe.
BTW ...
as I was leaving, guess what they gave me?
they were so nice they even gave me the special "reserved for the crew" Project Runway bag!!!
What could be better for me?
It is going to be my school bag! How cool!
Let's keep our fingers crossed !
ciao for now,
Cecilia
p.s.
Thank you to all of you on my blog for all your support!!!!!! xoxoxoxoxoxo

What a great way to start the school year! 9 / 9 / 9 ! LUCKY NUMBERS !
The first day of school. On my first day of fifth grade, I get to think about the end of the day because at 4 pm I will be meeting the producers of Project Runway! Is there any better way to start off my year? gotta go, CIAO FOR NOW !
Wish me luck!

what will you wear ?

First Day of School Outfit , dilema...

DO NOT
EVEN TRY TO PRETEND THAT
ALL OF YOU
HAVEN'T BEEN THINKING ABOUT
YOUR "FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL OUTFIT" !

I KNOW I HAVE BEEN!

BUT IT IS SOOOOOO HOT HERE IN LOS ANGELES!

HOW COULD WE POSSIBLY EVEN THINK ABOUT WEARING ANY OF THOSE GREAT "FALL OUTFITS" ?????

IT IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING ABLE TO WEAR THOSE CUTE PEA COATS AND UGGS !

I am going to wear my super cute cut off jean shorts - of course they are my super cute skinny jeans from last year that got too short!

Since I am not allowed to wear flip flops ( not in high school yet!), i will my patent black flats or maybe my black high top converse!

On top, a great lace (but not see through, of course) sleeveless top tucked into my shorts!

depending on my mood (at 7am), a long strand of pearls or maybe a long buddha necklace.
of course some bracelets to add to my "never take off" bracelet...

HAVE A GREAT DAY !!!! HAVE A GREAT SCHOOL YEAR !!!

WHAT WILL YOU WEAR ?

Monday, September 7, 2009

TWO NEW DRESSES for Jasmine and Mariah

Jasmine and Mariah are my new friends! I made them each a blue dress to wear to school!

Can you imagine not having something new to wear?

There are over 90,000 homeless people sleeping on the streets in Los Angleles.

Many kids are lucky to be in sheltors instead of on the street!

Jasmine and Mariah are two little girls who could have been on the street but were lucky enough to get a spot at Los Angeles Family Housing .

Since I know how nice it is to have a new dress to wear, I decided to make them each a dress to wear on their first day of school.

I know I can't help every child feel better but this is something I COULD do !

I feel sad but to think some kids do not get new dresses to wear.

I wanted Jasmine and Mariah to have a new dress to wear on their first day of school.

So, VOILA ! I took some tops that do not fit me anymore and I "repurposed" them into a dress for each of them.

They look so cute in them ! Good thing they fit them perfectly!

Since they are supposed to wear blue to school, I used different blue fabrics.

While I was hanging out with them, I also learned that blue is Mariah's (the little sister) favorite color. I made her a picture with her name written in BLUE! And her big sister, Jasmine, loves purple and hearts!

Something we all take for granted! A new dress!

These two little girls, Jasmine and Mariah, do not. They were so appreciative. Even though they were a little bit shy, I knew from the look in they eyes that they were happy with their "new" dresses. I mean, they were ALREADY wearing their new dress!

Jasmine, the big sister, hugged me and said thank you !

It really is easy to make someone else feel good!

I hope they have a great first day of school !

ciao for now, I gotta go figure out what I am going to wear on MY first day of 5th grade!

how it all began...

Ever since I can remember I always wanted to wear EXACTLY what I wanted to - even if everyone else didn't think it matched!

I also always wanted to wear my mom's or my sister's clothes - even if they were too big for me.

I will never forget the day that I took my sister's new dress and "altered" it... Or should I say:
"CUT" it up?

I loved that pink and yellow tie dyed tube top dress. It was sooooo grown up! I wanted it.

While noone was looking, I grabbed the sissors from the kitchen drawer. Then I hid under the kitchen table with the sissors and pink and yellow dress.

It just needed a little re sizing to fit me!

I quickly cut the bottom off so it wouldn't be too long anymore for me.
Then I slipped it on!
It was perfect in length!
But it was still way too big . Sooooooo...I took the ponytail holder out of my hair and I used it to cinch the dress in. Perfect!

As I was admiring myself in my new dress, I got busted! BUSTED!!!

My mom and sister freaked out. I am sure you can use your imagination and figure out what happened!

But what you may not know, though, is that I think that
was the very moment I realized if I just had a sewing machine,
I could learn to sew
and make exactly what I want to wear.

That's what I got for my 6th birthday! A singer sewing machine.
And the rest is history.

ciao for now,
Cecilia

meeting, the day of...

My manager - she totally gets it ! Me and the concept! Not only is she talented but she is a total fashionista like me , so fab and gorgeous and very pregnant. Her name is Pilar. She is a very successful manager and she thinks I have something! And she is not my mom or dad! Can you believe it!
Well, Pilar is the one who is setting up these meetings for me. I guess she really believes in me . She drove to Beverly Hills to introduce us to some agents when it was 108 degrees outside. And she is almost 9 months pregnant. My mom says it takes a pregnant lady longer to cool down than someone like me! Her feet were very swolen but she had a smile on her face! As we got onto the elevator, to go up to the beautiful offices, Pilar told me to "hit it outta the park" when we met with these people.

meeting with prouducers

MEETING WITH THE PRODUCERS OF PROJECT RUNWAY!

My amazing manager did it!
When we first met, I told her that Project Runway is my absolute favorite of all time TV show.
I watch every episode and get inspired every week!
I want to be on Project Runway!

Pilar said, well "It is tough. You know, sometimes, even the adults cry. It is hard."

The only reason why I would cry is out of happiness and excitement !

My dream is coming true! Finally my life is becoming normal! I get to meet the producers of Project Runway next week! I get to actually talk to people who will understand me! I love fashion. I dream about the next best outfit to wear. Every morning I wake up wanting to sew!

summer challenge

I woke up this morning and what do you think the first thing I did was??????

Yep ! I turned on last night's episode of Project Runway!

OMG ! I am so glad that Mitchel got out. He has not proven himself to deserve to stay on. Not even close. I mean what was that awful shorts and tank top he made last week? Even I know better than that for a pregnant lady! In fact I made a dress - inspired from last week's "pregnant challenge" for Pilar. She is about to have her baby any minute! I think it might have won the challenge because it is just tight enough to show a cute tummy !!!!!! I can't wait to give it to her!

Now, back to the "summer challenge"...
As I was watching the episode I kept thinking to myself how I could be making a winning design in a flash!

That is exactly what I did! Yep ! That's right!
I made a black and white tube top bathing suit and of course the "avant garde" piece as well.
What do you think?
Fabulous or what?
I think I will wear it this weekend to the beach!

hitting it outta the park...

I totally thought I was "hitting it outta the park" when I walked into the meeting with a huge box of macaroons to share with the agents. After all, I am French and love to share the delicacies of Paris when I can. My papa set the long, rectangular box of delicious coffee, vanilla, cassis, and pistachio macaroons on the gigantic table. I have never seen such a huge table - except at my Grandma's for thanksgiving dinner- The difference is at my Grandma's house, everyone practically fights for the delicious food ... Here at the meeting, the agents did not really appreciate the macaroons! As I bit into my third macaroon, I realized I was the only one enjoying myself. Were these agents we were meeting with on a diet, I wondered????? Or was it that they only knew the Martha Stewart macaroons, baked from coconut, that are served during Passover? Oh well! More for me, I thought! Well, just as they did not get the macaroons, I did not get them.
The guy, the agent. wondered if we could make a reality show about my family.
????????????????????????????????????????????
never.
After the meeting, as I stood in my fabulous dress and jack purcell's, I told Pilar: "This is about me! Not my family!" She said, "I wish you had said that to them in the meeting!"

Meeting with the agents

I am finally waking up from what I thought was a bad dream of my "big day" !
You know how excited I was for my meeting ... My outfit was fantastic: Since I did not find the perfect shoe for my original idea of what to wear, I quickly designed and sewed something even better: A perfect white tshirt (of course with some pizazz...) and white and silver brocade umpire skirt, paried with jack purcell's. SOOOOOO CUTE ! SOOOOOOO ME ! Of course I changed the boring white laces to fab grey ones to bring in the silver on the brocade. I felt great. I felt fab. I felt ready to sign a deal!

MOOD

Today I went to the most amazing fabric store called "MOOD"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMGGGG I WAS IN ABSOULLOUT HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had no idea such an amazing fabric store existed.
I have been to JoAnn's and to the fabric stores downtown, ... but: WOW!
MOOD ! Boy oh Boy, did MOOD put me in a good mood!

I WALKED UP and DOWN EACH ISLE JUST DROOLING! I WANTED EVERYTHING!
MY MIND WAS RACING FROM SPARKLE TO STRETCH TO FLORAL TO GOLD LEATHER !

Once I realized my grandma was sitting on a chair in the front of the store sleeping. I knew my time was running out. I had better start pulling bolts of fabric to be cut.

I DECIDED THAT FOR MY FALL COLLECTION, I WANT THE FOCUS TO BE ON ALL
PURPLES AND GOLDS !!!!! I FOUND THE MOST AMAZING PURPLE AND GOLD FABRIC!
STRETCH, MEN'S SUITING, AND GLITTERY GOLD!

Since my brother does not fit into some of his "golf" collar shirts anymore (my mom thought purple's were cool for him), I am going to turn his "hand-me-downs" into fabulous, purple and gold "good-MOOD" inspired dresses.

IT IS Absolutely GOING TO BE THE MOST AMAZING COLLECTION OF ALL; but of course,
EVERY COLLECTION IS GOING TO BE AMAZING AND BETTER EACH TIME!!!!!

With my grandma now sleeping in her very air-conditioned car, I was starting to feel rushed.

I CAN NOT BELIVE HOW THE PROJECT RUNWAY PEOPLE CAN LOOK AT ALL OF THE ISLES and MAKE THEIR CHOICES IN ONLY 30 MIN.

IT TOOK ME ALMOST 4 HOURS TO CHOOSE MY FABRICS....Well maybe not that long!

I could have stayed their ALL DAY ! But my Grandma was hungry.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope my creations put you in a GOOD MOOD !

WELL,
CHOW FOR NOW!
